Founded at Yale University in 1895, Pi Lambda Phi (ΠΛΦ, Pilam) was the first fraternity in the U.S. to accept men of good character without regard to race or religion. CNU's chapter, originally founded in 1992 and reestablished in 2013, prides itself on embodying the values of scholarship, character, leadership, commitment, and equality in order to build men of strong ability, open-mindedness, far-sightedness, and progressive, forward-looking attitudes. We are a social fraternity and a member of the Interfraternity Council at CNU.
philanthropy and recent events
Pi Lambda Phi supports the Elimination of Prejudice. Currently on 40 college campuses and universities, the Elimination of Prejudice Foundation addresses the underlying differences between people that prevent progress and sets the conditions for sensitive societal conversations to take place, promoting a better understanding between people.
Recently, the VA Alpha Psi chapter of Pi Lambda Phi has also adopted a local, campus-level philanthropy at CNU: SADD. Students Against Destructive Decisions is an organization that focuses on educating about dangerous decisions that can be common among students and the consequences that come with them. SADD also works to offer preventative measures for such situations, and we couldn't agree more with all that they stand for at CNU, and nationwide. Throughout the year, we host a number of philanthropic events and fundraisers, including, but not limited to, the Wall of Prejudice, the Elimination of Prejudice Anthology, Saddstock, Pilamonade, and others. Through these events, we seek to spread awareness and make an impact with our dedication to the philanthropies we are so very happy to serve. |
SADDSTOCKNew to our chapter in the spring of 2023 was Saddstock, a happy benefit concert. We had performances by 7 musical organizations on campus (including our very own Pilam Jam Band!), and also assisted SADD in selling mocktails and spreading awareness of dangerous decisions such as drunk driving and the measures we can take to prevent them. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to SADD.

PILAMONADEThere isn't anything better on a hot day than lemonade, right? This spring, we set up a table in the DSU plaza and sold lemonade to students. We also advertised for our Saddstock concert, and donated proceeds from this lemonade stand.

THE ELIMINATION OF PREJUDICE ANTHOLOGY The Elimination of Prejudice Anthology was an event we hosted to spread awareness of the Prejudice that unfortunately still exists on our campus and in our world as a whole. We tabled and asked students to share their own experiences with prejudice inside and outside of the classroom, and we anonymously shared these responses on social media to spread this message that prejudice is still a very real issue facing our society today.

INVOLVEMENT
All of our brothers are heavily involved with other organizations at CNU. These organizations include the Student Diversity & Equality Council, Student Assembly, Campus Activities Board, Association of Computing Machinery and many more. In addition, we place an emphasis on community service in and outside of campus. Every brother puts in at least 15 hours of community service each semester.
